Randy Gene
Moss (born February 13 1977) is an ex- American football player. He was an
American football player who played for 14 years within the National Football
League (NFL), including with the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders and the
New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. He is widely regarded as Jerry
Rice's best wide receiver. He holds the NFL single-season touchdown reception
record of 23 in 2007, the NFL rookie single-season touchdown reception records
(17 in 1998) and is second on the all-time NFL regular season touchdown
reception list with 156. Moss was famous for his skills in securing contestable
catches, and the term "mossed" is now part of football's lexicon.
Following his football career, he started working as a studio announcer at ESPN
for their Sunday NFL Countdown program and Monday Night Countdown. Moss was a
Rand, West Virginia native. He was a student at DuPont High School. It was one
of two schools that later became Riverside High School. There the student
excelled at basketball, football, baseball tracks, and many other sports. Randy
was also part of the school’s debate team. Moss was a DuPont Panthers' football
player who led them to back-toback state championships, 1992 and 1993. He was
an excellent wide receiver however, he also played free safety as well as
returned punts and kickoffs, and was the team's kicker and punter. He was
awarded the Kennedy Award in 1994 as West Virginia's Football Player of Year.
Parade magazine named him to their All-American high-school football team in
1995 and in 2009, he was named among the top 50 football players from high
schools ever.
